Realtors often discuss the importance of having a private home inspection. What you don’t often hear are the common types of home inspections. So, for example, you’ll definitely have your traditional private home inspection. But if you want to learn more about the property, then you may want to consider having a radon test and a sewer scope. And then if you’re purchasing a home that has a well or a septic field, then you want to consider having a well and septic inspection.
Additionally, should your home inspector, based on their results, recommend that you get additional inspections that may or may not be within their line of work, then you want to consider that as well. For example, he or she may recommend that you get a foundation inspection because there’s foundation issues on the home, or if they’re seeing there’s possible mold in the home, they may want to consider you get a mold test.
