Certified probate real estate broker Patrice Henderson and real estate attorney, Shawn Head from The Head Law Firm, PLC discuss all things probate and how to avoid probate in Michigan in this live interview.
When selling a a home through probate court, it can be very stressful and cumbersome without the right realtor and real estate attorney. Ideally, you would be done with the probate process prior to listing the property for sale so that when you get an offer accepted on the home, the buyer isn’t waiting for you to finish the probate process.
A lot of realtors don’t fully understand the probate process and what ends up happening is some sellers will get an offer accepted on a home and are ready to close but because the seller isn’t finished with probate, they back out of the deal and pursue another home.
If you think you may need to sell a home through probate, speak to a very knowledgeable real estate attorney and realtor or real estate broker to ensure you’re set up for success.
Furthermore, it would be best to avoid probate in Michigan but to have things set up so there’s no concerns about ownership of a property, making it easier and faster to get the home sold and for the most money. Be sure to watch this video to the end as there is a wealth of information in it.
