Is It Harder To Sell A House In The Fall?
Patrice Henderson of Designed Living Real Estate discusses the top 3 reasons why selling your home in the fall or winter can actually be a great idea.
- You Will Likely Get More Serious Buyers: In the fall and winter, home buyers tend to be more serious because school has started and to thinking about moving when the kids are settled in school requires a different level of motivation unless you don’t have kids or you’re moving in the same school district. Also, the weather alone can be a deterrent for home buyers so if they are looking when it’s cold outside, they are likely very serious about buying a home.
- Less Competition: Although more people are looking to buy a home in the spring and summer, more people are also looking to sell in the spring or summer. So it’s really just ratios. You may have fewer buyers in the fall and winter but you also have fewer sellers, which means you’ll have more serious buyers and less competition when you sell a house in the fall or winter.
- May Be The Best Time When You Need To Buy And Sell: If you need to buy another home after you sell your current home, this could position you to have the best of both worlds depending on the condition and other factors for the home you’re selling and the new home you’re looking for. You could get the most money for your home while getting a deal on your new home.
