In real estate, you often hear the word contingency. And what does contingency mean? It means a provision for unforeseeable event or circumstance. And so, most of the time, you’ll have contingencies in place. When you’re purchasing a home (and) you’re writing your offer (you have contingencies).
You have your inspection contingency, your appraisal, your title, work, your final walk through all these contingencies in place. And sometimes the seller may have one, too, meaning they may have a contingency in place saying that we’re accepting your offer but it’s contingent on us find and get an offer accepted on our new home and closing.
