Although when a seller is selling their home as is, what that really means is that when the home is listed for sale, the seller has no intention of really doing anything to the home to get the home sold. Meaning they didn’t already think that, “okay, I’m going to install a new hot water here before we close,” or things like that.
But what happens a lot is a realtor will list the home and indicate in the remarks the home is being sold as is. And what they really mean by that is you have your inspection, do whatever you want with your due diligence period. But just note that the seller is not going to give you any concessions, and they’re not going to do any repairs for you in order to get the home sold.
You will truly have to buy the home as is. So if you have any questions, leave a comment below. Please share this with anybody you think this would be helpful to and as always, close with Patrice.
** Be sure to discuss with your realtor on whether or not you’re open to buying a home as-is in the way many realtors consider selling a home as-is to make sure they know not to get you involved in a home like this if you’re not open to it. (A great realtor will do this without you referencing this, fyi).
